Feminist Lens

For many years women were told that they are not capable of doing what men do. Women were born to stay home, cook food, take care of the kids, clean the house, and keep their men happy. Until this today women are still seen as fragile and delicate in many occasions. For the novel  Beloved  by Toni Morrison, I decided to analyze the Feminist Critical Lens. As a female Latina, men believe they are much more powerful than women. They look upon women and believe we are not as strong as men are. I have been in situations where Latino men have made me feel weak and incapable of doing anything. Even though I was not raised with both of my parents, my uncle believes that once I get a degree it should be either a secretary or a teacher because that’s  what best fits a female. They do not believe women have the right to get a degree that relates with violence or strength. I believe women are capable of doing anything they set their minds to. Yes it is not fair that society has made 2 categories when it comes to men and women but that should  not let women feel weak, incapable, fragile, useless etc. Instead it should motivate us to feel strong and accomplish what men did not believe we could do.
