Why I chose the Feminist Lens Weber

Hi everyone. :) Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I’m new to this so please bare with me.
So, for my class’s AP Lit. Project on the book Beloved by Toni Morrison, I have decided to write my literary blog through a Feminist Lens. I have decided to write through a feminist lens because I find it extremely interesting to look at society and literature and see how the gender roles are portrayed during relationships. Every day people get judged by their gender stereotype and at times there are people who play right in to their stereotype and there are some who completely disprove it. This happens among all cultures, races, relationships and in everyday life. To pick apart the basis of how someone acts and fits into society is to decipher who they are and are able to determine their characteristics and personal qualities. That’s why I find it so intriguing. It helps me understand why a person acts the way they do based off of who they are. So I hope that you have fun seeing what I come up with as I pick apart the characters and relationships in Beloved.

  1. Try to identify what types of relationships to be more specific and how it could influence the characters. Focus more on your lens than your personal want to pick apart characters. How you are writing it could be confused with psychoanalytical.

  2. I think that looking through the Feminist lens to pick apart the type of characters the writer chose to include will help you to understand the reality of slaveries and how we have evolved from historical stereotypes as well as race/gender stereotypes. Can't wait to see your interpretations!
